CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name: Siri

Age:12years

Gender:Female

Location: Hyderabad , Telangana, India

Case History:Siri, a young 12 years old student, in her adolescence. Her parents came to us as her height was 149 cms. They had tried a few protein rich diets that were recommended to them for improving her height status but instead of gaining height, she gained weight and more around the belly fat. Since she was 12 years and towards the end of her growth phase, her parents hoped that we could help her with good nutrition, that could help her with height and reduce belly fat. create a lifestyle that was good for her, and grow to her full potential for her age with the proper nutrition and education.

Analysis by clinical nutritionist:As she had gained belly fat, we ask her parents to get her blood tests done as belly fat could indicate imbalanced nutrition status such as PEM or she could be developing insulin resistance. Her reports indicated that she had a BMI of 24, which was considered to be overweight. She weighed 55.5kgs and stood 149 cm tall. Her blood reports indicated that she had developed insulin resistance due to dhal based high protein diets she was on. Her lipid parameters were a little overboard with total cholesterol-189mg/dl, triglycerides-190.9mg/dl, LDL-98mg/dl. With a HbA1c of 5.8% which is slightly high

Approach by best clinical nutritionist in Hyderabad, Telangana:An adolescent girl's development and general health are greatly influenced by her diet. It's crucial to give the proper nutrition throughout this stage to encourage growth, hormonal changes, and avoid long-term health problems. Our intention was to help her make lasting adjustments to her way of life while keeping this and her situation in mind.We created a food plan based on the right energy, protein, and fat requirements for her age. To ensure she received an adequate amount of both macro and micronutrients, we began by making simple changes, such as raising her daily calorie intake to 1400Kcal and including a variety of foods from all the food groups in all of her main meals. We focused mostly on including complex carbohydrates, complete proteins, and healthy fats because she had begun to develop insulin resistance. Her food plan contained whole eggs, whole milk, whole wheat, brown rice, nuts, and cheese, among other things. For a sufficient intake of protein, we added organ meat, paneer, chicken, mutton, and whole dals. We included omega-3-rich foods such flaxseeds, chia seeds, seafood, and walnuts to improve her lipid markers, brain function, and heart health. We also made sure to incorporate enough of the most important nutrients, calcium and iron, in her meal plans in the form of green leafy vegetables, mutton liver, hung curd, etc. We also built fun and tastylunch box recipes like brown rice pulao, Mexican rice, green roti wraps and vegetables salad with cheese for her school. To ensure her maximum growth, we also gave her a protein shake that was specifically created for adolescents. We ensured her gut health by including variety of fruits, superseeds and hung curd. In order to ensure that she did not miss out on any age-appropriate exciting foods, we made sure to include things like cookies, noodles, and cutlets in her plans. We encouragedher to have regular meals and wholesome snacks to sustain energy levels and ensure a steady nutrient intake throughout the day. Along with our customized meal plans we also supported her by proving a customized exercise routine for her to increase her height and build a strong physique.

Results: Siri saw an excellent result within a span of12 months. She lost 3kgs largely of belly fat and grew from 149 cms to 162 cms in 12 months . Her triglycerides dropped to 60 mg/dl, total cholesterol came down to 153 mg/dl and LDL to 81 mg/dl. She also improved towards insulin sensitivity, her HbA1c was normal at 4.9% and her albumin increased to 4.5 g/dl.She developed discipline and felt energetic all day. Both herself and her parents were ecstatic with the outcomes and satisfied with the simple and sustainable improvements.
