CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name- Ananya

Age- 30 years

BMI- 21.5 kg/m2

Location- Telangana, India

Profession- Software developer

Case History- Ananya, a 30-year-old software developer was suffering from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Food intolerance, extreme bloating, food indigestion and flatulence were her main symptoms of IBS, for which she was using Homeopathic and English medications to combat it. She was also concerned about her body heat issues and pimples. Being a travel enthusiast, she often used to find it difficult to choose food options that would support her gut. It also made her whole holiday experiences very restrictive and limiting as she could choose only a few options of food. Most often she would miss the local delicacies due to her impaired gut.

Analysis by the best nutritionist in Telangana- We analyzed her blood reports and identified she had iron deficiency anemia, mild hypothyroidism, vitamin D insufficiency and marginally high Fasting Blood Glucose

Approach by the best weight loss nutritionist in Telangana -Dietary recall showed that she was consuming food that was high on FODMAP . We began by providing meal plans that contained low FODMAP. We designed a Low FODMAP healthy plate diet that comprised of fruits, vegetables, protein, and good fat. While the flatulence and bloating significantly reduced most part of the day, it would increase by the evening. On analysis, we realized less water and irregular timings caused it. Hence, we monitored her daily water intake as well as meal timings. On most days, her flatulence, bloating, and washroom cycle was regular and there were minimal disruptions, however there were days where there would be triggers of intense bloating, flatulence, and increased episodes of washroom cycles. We took the elimination & isolation approach. We asked her to have 1 vegetable, one fruit, 1 protein, 1 grain every day for a week to ascertain the intolerance. Once we recognized the pattern, we eliminated a few foods like beetroot and chicken from her diet for a brief period. We introduced probiotics that were green in the FODMAP such as hemp milk, mutton bone soup. We asked her to take Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 supplements.

As her gut health started to strengthen, we introduced a variety of food one at a time. We incorporated iron-rich foods like green leafy vegetables in her diet to reverse her anemia condition. We further introduced hung curd and varieties of grains like ragi, bajra and quinoa in her meals as her IBS symptoms reduced as she was able to tolerate more vegetables. We educated her on proper cooking practices to support nutrient absorption. We offered her a special food intolerance list and helped her make food selections while she was visiting other nations, which benefited her in the long term. We urged her to practice 45-minute brisk walks as part of an improvement to her lifestyle while bearing in mind her busy and strenuous job.

Results - Within seven days, Ananya noticed remarkable changes in her diet. Over the next 45 days, she noticed that her bloating and flatulence had reduced significantly, and she had more energy. Her washroom cycle became more predictable. She also noticed an improvement in her skin, body heat, and digestion as she continued to follow the plans we provided. She is currently cheerful and happy as she is able to enjoy local cuisine while on holiday and her body is able to tolerate a wider variety of food. She also knows the few trigger foods and knows the portion and method of consumption of those foods.
