Case History: Omesh Agarwal, a successful businessman came to us with issues related to high cholesterol levels, triglycerides and high blood sugar levels. As he had a family history of diabetes and heart health issues, he went for a full-body check in the early 30's as he suddenly noticed excessive weight loss and would constantly feel fatigued. In that check-up he was unfortunately diagnosed with high sugar levels which resulted in three stents in his heart and therefore was very concerned about his health. He was able to control his sugar levels with medications. However his triglycerides levels was constantly in the danger zone. Doctors were very concerned about his insulin parameters and would call him for check-ups every 3 months to check his parameters. At one point his triglycerides were extremely high at 400.
Approach by the best dietician in Hyderabad: We started the program with educating Omesh on how whole foods can make an impact on his health and the healthier food choices he should put on his plate. Most Agarwal’s as a community start their day with some biscuits and tea. We explained him that consuming tea and biscuits can affect his triglycerides levels. Apart from low glycaemic, vegetarian, fibre rich and dense protein foods, we identified foods that specifically worked for his body and those that reduced his sugar levels. We made a few changes in Omesh’s dietary habits. For example: protein is essential for a diabetic person, but in his case his body did not support casein-based protein powders, leading to increase in his blood sugar levels. Instead, whole dals which are cell wall intact worked better for Omesh’s body. Also, provided him a nutritional plan consisting of simple home-made food, as per Omesh’s preferences.
