Case History: Sree Teja approached us for help with sustainable weight loss, to reverse PCOS, reduce her hair fall and improve her poor energy levels. She also had joint pains and hence was unable to do any physical activity. In the past there were a few diets that she tried but did not lose weight after the initial 2 kgs weight loss even though she would continue following the diet beyond a month and therefore would give up as anyway she was not getting results. Since she also suffered with hypothyroidism, she believed that weight loss would be very difficult.

Analysis: Past history, dietary recall and lifestyle choices. Her Vitamin B12 and D3 levels were low which was causing acidity and body pains. Her diet did not include fiber and protein, two very important food groups to aid weight loss as well as reverse PCOS condition.

Approach by the best PCOS nutritionist: As her condition and outcomes required adequate fiber and protein, we gave her a meal plan that with a proper ratio of cell wall intact carbs, an efficient source of protein, and healthy fats. We gave her wholesome foods to improve her PCOS condition like brown rice, super seed, tofu, shakes, green leafy vegetables etc.The initial weeks were very uncomfortable for her as she was experiencing a lot of bloating and gassiness and this made her feel very pessimistic and hopeless towards the program. Our real time support system ensured that we took her feedback, understood her pain points of discomfort and corrective action was taken immediately. Since her body was not used to so much of fiber, we gradually introduced fibre in small portions and once she was able to digest fibre better, we gave her the required amount to help her with her PCOS and weight gain conditions. We paced it out by first giving her more white rice and 20 percent brown rice, more soluble fibers like watery vegetables rather than coarse fiber like green leafy vegetables. We gave her oats instead of millets as she was not able to digest heavy fibers. Since anything new takes a while to get adjusted;our nutritionists motivated her through constant feedback and made changes till the time her body was adjusted to optimal portions of fiber and protein. We also gave her VIT D and B12 supplements so that her digestive health would get strong and her acidity reduced. Time restricted eating with clear fasting and feasting time periods further to improve her gastric health were a part of the approach. She started going for brisk walks and HIIT in 45 days. As she progressed we introduced all her pleasure foods into her weekly consumption plan, we gave her guidelines to enjoy her favourite foods during marriages and festivals. We introduced lean protein to help her with gut-health.


Results: In the first month she lost 3 kgs with only nutrition related changes.Her body pains reduced, she felt energetic through the day.In a few months, her period cycle improved, and she now gets her period every 30-35 days without any medications. She no longer experiences joint pain, and she can exercise as well. She is able to focus better on her work and feel more energetic. She does not have anyepisodes of acidity now. She started feeling satiated with what she was eating and it helped her subconsciously to make better food choices and control her portion sizes. She lost 12 kgs in 5 months and sustained it while enjoying food during marriages, social occasions and festivals like Ganesh Chaturti, Dussera and Diwali etc.

Her hair fall reduced initially and it completely stopped by the end of the program. She learnt how to eat whenever she goes out with friends and her relationship with food changed for the better.. She was able to eat all her favourite dishes, by the end of the program, and also lost 12 kgs for the first time in many years.
