You can gain weight with intermittent fasting if you don’t do it right.

CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name: Janvi

Age: 36 years

Gender: Female

BMI: 32

Profession: Architect

Case History: Janvi put on weight over the course of the last two years, during the pandemic and increased considerably thereafter. At one point her BMI was (), which was an all-time high. She decided to follow the bandwagon of intermittent fasting as everybody was talking about it. However, she gained 7 kg more weight rather than losing any. Apart from the weight gain, she also found herself feeling tired when she woke up.She is an interior designer, which, required to be on project sites through the day. The fatigue that she woke up with, got worse through the day to the extent that she had to leave work on many days and get back home to get rest. This was affecting her work deliverables and personal life. She had seen her husband get fantastic results with us and hence decided to consult us for her health and wellness this time around.

Approach by the best weight loss nutritionist: Her blood reports indicated a whole lot of nutritional deficiencies like vitamin b12, vitamin d, iron, folate, ferritin etc. The first step was to ask her to take adequate supplementation for vit d and b12 to give quick relief. On analyzing her dietary recall, we saw that she had small easy-to-go meals during the day as she had a busy schedule and a large part of the calories were being consumed at dinner, leaving her tired the next day. Her lipid parameters also suggested that her LDL was high and HDL was low. She ate large, primarily protein-rich dinners, with the majority of her daily carbohydrate intake happening during the day.

We gave her a nutrient-dense meal plan that took care of her nutritional deficiencies for iron, folate, ferritin, b12. We used scientific principles of intermittent fasting and gave her higher caloric meals when her body was in the optimal state of metabolism and lighter meals when the metabolism was sluggish. We gave her on-the-go meals on days she was on client sites. Since she is a working woman with a hectic schedule, we took the food options that were provided in the office and added a few items to the meal plan that were required for her to ensure she got all the nutrients.

Results:

To her disbelief and excitement, in the first month, she dropped 5 kgs and in 2 months, she lost 7 kgs which were her goal. She began to feel energized and light through the day and was happily able to go about her entire day’s workload with ease. She no longer experienced all-day fatigue and drowsiness. She was also able to indulge in her comfort foods.
